How to subtract a 4 digit number?
When forming columns, position the numbers one above the other so that the decimal places match. Starting with the “Units” column, subtract the bottom number from the top number. If you can get it out, just enter the answer below. If you can’t subtract it without entering a negative number, you’ll need to borrow one of the following columns. In this case, the top number in the next column is subtracted by one and the number in the “Units” column becomes a two-digit number. You can now subtract the lowest number from it.
